My mother is not “comfortable” with the idea of a gay marriage
Seb, I need for you to know that I spoke with my mother this evening concerning the whole gay marriage thing that is being voted on in the USA this year. Suffice it to say that mom and I have had a very interesting dialogue that doesn’t seem to include any understanding of the other’s position. My mother is not “comfortable” with the idea of a gay marriage. This from a woman whose son is sponsoring a working VISA for his partner who is gay. We paid over xxxxxx dollars last year to allow my partner to stay in the USA. It is wrong. I am angry. Very angry and I do not know how to cope with it all. Can you please help me? Kind regards, K.
My friend anything that makes two consenting adults happy is not ok, it is in fact the wonder of life, it's very lovely. If you and him are happy that's all that matters. To a point, you have to explain to your mom, there is no compromise about what makes you happy. Invite her for lunch, do a fucking wonderful lunch to celebrate her getting to know him, a party, a celebration, a blessing from him to her, and believe me from her to him. Do the best lunch you ever done, champagne and all the trimmings. Push the boat out, show how very important this is to you, him and her. At the end of the day if she is not adding up subtract, you can always add again at a latter stage. It's not your mom's life at this moment, it's yours and his. You have to be brave now, my friend. It might take awhile, but she will cumm around, believe me, you know she loves you. Now she has a choice to have one more son, or one less.
